Why Pitch Black Espresso?
This is no ordinary coffee. Pitch Black Espresso is a dark, smooth, Italian-style roast with deep cocoa and spice notes that practically beg to be baked into a brownie. Roasted in small batches right here in Florida, this blend delivers a bold espresso flavor that stands up to rich chocolate without overpowering it.
Let’s Bake!
Makes: 16 brownies |
Prep Time: 10 minutes |
Bake Time: 40–45 minutes |

• 3/4 cup unsalted butter
• 1/4 cup of Pitch Black Espresso Dark Roast Coffee by Blackout Coffee, brewed and cooled
• 2 tbsp of crushed Pitch Black Espresso Dark Roast Coffee Beans
• 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
• 1 cup all-purpose flour
• 3 tbsp cocoa powder
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
• 3 large eggs
• 1/2 tbsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350 F and grease a square 8x8 baking pan. (Glass or Metal)
2. In a small pan, brown the butter over medium heat for 10 minutes. While it cooks, the butter will foam and crackle. Totally normal! Stir it occasionally. When the bottom of the pan has brown bits of butter and it starts to smell nutty, scrape all of it into a separate bowl.
3. Add the chocolate chips to the bowl with browned butter and stir until chocolate is completely melted. Set aside.
4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Set aside.
5. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, sugar, and vanilla together until fluffy.
6. Add the melted butter and chocolate into the bowl with batter. Mix until just combined.
7. Gently fold in the dry ingredients and crushed coffee beans with a rubber spatula until combined.
8. Slowly pour the batter into the greased baking pan. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
9. Let the pan cool completely then cut into 16 squares.
