HOW TO BREW COFFEE

1 2 3 4 5

1. DRIP COFFEE MAKER [MEDIUM GRIND]

Brewing coffee in a drip coffee maker is one of the easiest and most consistent ways to enjoy a fresh, flavorful cup at home. Start with freshly roasted whole beans from Blackout Coffee, grind them to a medium grind (similar to sand), and you’ll unlock rich aromas and balanced flavor in every sip.

Grind your beans to a medium texture (like sand).

Measure 2 tbsp of coffee per 6 oz of water.

Add grounds to your coffee filter.

Fill with water and start brewing.

Enjoy a smooth, balanced cup.

💡 Pro tip: For the best results, use filtered water and keep your coffee maker clean to prevent stale flavors.

2. FRENCH PRESS [COARSE GRIND]

"The French press is perfect for making a bold, full-bodied cup of coffee with rich flavor and a smooth mouthfeel. Most of our coffee is sold as whole bean, so grind it coarse (like sea salt) just before brewing — unless you’re using our Covert OP Cold Brew, which already comes coarse-ground.

Steps:

Grind coarse to prevent grounds from slipping through the mesh filter.

Add 1 tablespoon of coffee for every 4 ounces of hot water.

Pour water just off the boil over the grounds.

Stir gently, then place the lid on without pressing.

Steep for 4 minutes, then press the plunger down slowly.

Serve immediately for maximum freshness.

💡 Pro tip: Don’t let the coffee sit in the French press after brewing — transfer it to a carafe to avoid over-extraction."

2. FRENCH PRESS [COARSE GRIND]

3. POUR-OVER (MEDIUM GRIND)

The pour-over method highlights the bright, clean flavors in your coffee, giving you full control over the brew. Start with freshly roasted whole beans and grind them to a medium texture (like sand).

Steps:

Place a filter in your pour-over dripper and rinse it with hot water to remove paper taste.

Grind medium and measure 2 tablespoons of coffee per 6 ounces of water.

Add grounds to the filter, then start by pouring just enough hot water to saturate them.

Let bloom for 30 seconds — this releases carbon dioxide for better flavor.

Pour slowly in gentle circles until you reach the desired water amount.

Enjoy a clean, aromatic cup.

💡 Pro tip: Use a gooseneck kettle for precision pouring and better extraction.

3. POUR-OVER (MEDIUM GRIND)

4. COLD BREW (COARSE GRIND)

"Cold brew coffee is smooth, naturally sweet, and perfect for hot days. Our Covert OP Cold Brew comes pre-ground coarse, but if you’re starting with whole bean, grind it coarse like sea salt.

STEPS:

Add 1 cup of coarse-ground coffee to 4 cups of cold, filtered water.

Use a large mason jar, pitcher, or container with a lid.

Stir & cover, then place in the fridge to steep for 12–24 hours.

Strain using a fine mesh strainer, coffee filter, or cheesecloth.

Serve over ice — strong, smooth, and refreshing.

💡 Alternative method: You can also make cold brew in a French press — just steep for 12–24 hours, then press down the plunger."

4. COLD BREW (COARSE GRIND)

5. MOKA POT (MEDIUM-FINE GRIND)

The Moka pot brews rich, concentrated coffee with an intensity similar to espresso. For best results, use freshly roasted whole beans ground medium-fine, slightly finer than drip but not as fine as espresso.

Steps:

Fill the bottom chamber with water up to the safety valve.

Grind medium-fine and fill the filter basket with coffee — don’t pack it down.

Assemble the Moka pot and place it over medium heat.

Listen for a gentle gurgling sound — that’s your coffee brewing.

Remove from heat when the top chamber is full.

Serve immediately for maximum flavor.

💡 Pro tip: Preheat your water before adding it to the Moka pot to reduce bitterness from over-extraction.

20 gauge brew!

If you’re looking for an all-around sure shot brew, this is your cuppa Joe. It’s smooth enough to perk, press or pour over, and bold enough to pull a shot!

BLACKOUT COFFEE DORS IT AGAIN

OK...so I usually get Brewtal Awakening for my go to morning caffeine jolt...but this 1776 Dark Roast hit the spot.

Very Bold flavor

Well to be honest I found out I wasn’t a dark roast coffee drinker. The coffee is smooth, rich in flavor but definitely not for me. If you like bold coffee I highly recommend it.

Great consistent flavor amd brew quality through the whole bag

Very Smooth

Nice aroma and smoothness, not overpowering like some darks are.

J

Good coffee

1776 coffee is smooth, bold and flavorful without the bite of Brewtal Awakening if you want a gentler, but still bold, taste.

1776 A Classic

The 1776 is a classic freedom dark roast, pun intended. Whether you brew it in a coffee pot or do a pour over brew, this roast has a smooth, rich and robust flavor. While other coffee companies over roast their beans and being burnt equivalent to standing on the sun and calling it a "dark roast", Blackout does not do that. All their roasts are silky smooth as if your taste buds are enveloped in pure silk while providing rich notes of chocolate and little hint of honey lemon. One million out of 10, would recommend.
