Syrup Solutions?

So, I’ve expressed in the past that I tend to prefer powders to syrups, but due to a combination of factors I’ve decided that perhaps I’ve given syrups the short shaft and that they deserve a second look.

These factors include:

  • Pricing. Syrups on the whole tend to be cheaper than ordering from online shops. My current favorite (Ghirardelli white chocolate powder)  has run the gamut in pricing from $11 all the way up to $24, depending on if Amazon happens to have it in stock at the time. $24 is a bit too much to be paying for the sweetener I think.
  • I haven’t really tried syrups outside of coffee shops. I think judging them on that is a bit too hasty since I tend to prefer my coffee I prepare at home (even without syrup/powder added).
  • Roaste.com doesn’t carry powders (that I can find at least), but does stock a variety of syrups. In the interest of reducing the amount of time I spend looking for coffee supplies it’s nice to be able to take advantage of just shopping at one site. Plus, this lets me take advantage of all the specials Roaste.com offers and also lets me take advantage of my Roaste.com PRIME subscription.

So, I’ve decided to try a few varieties of syrup (and review them of course!), but since I have zero opinions to go on, I’ve decided to start by asking you guys what your favorite syrups/flavors are. Also, what brands are the best? I constantly see Torani bottles everywhere here, but I’ve also heard good things about Monin. The Da Vinci I haven’t seen much of, but maybe it’s great too? I’ll be placing my restock order in a couple of days so feel free to chime in.
