Pour-Over — 195 to 205°F

French Press — 195 to 205°F

Same target as drip and pour-over. The longer 4-minute steep means temperature at the end matters as much as at the start. Preheat the French press vessel to retain heat and keep extraction consistent.

AeroPress — 175 to 205°F

Wider usable range than other methods. Standard recipes use around 200 degrees for a 1 to 2 minute brew. Lower temperatures (175 to 185 degrees) produce a sweeter, less bitter result with shorter steeps.

Espresso — 190 to 200°F

Runs slightly cooler than drip. High pressure compensates for the lower temperature. The SCA standard is 190 to 200 degrees at the group head. A single degree change can noticeably affect shot flavor.

Cold Brew — Room Temperature (65 to 75°F)

Cold brew does not use hot water. Extraction happens over 12 to 24 hours at room temperature or in the refrigerator. Low temperature produces a sweeter, less acidic, smoother cup than any hot brewing method.
